RE: The tariff classification of a decorative ribbon, from China.

Dear Mr. Crago-Edwards:

In your letter dated March 22, 2010, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

The instant sample, identified as style A072YA01822, consists of a woven ribbon which measures 7/8" in width and 30-feet in length. It is composed of 100 polyester man-made fibers and contains a woven selvedge. The ribbon is wound on a cardboard spool.

The applicable subheading for the ribbon will be 5806.32.1030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for … other narrow woven fabrics, … ribbons, of a width not exceeding 12 cm, of polyester, with woven selvedge. The rate of duty will be 6 percent ad valorem.

The merchandise in question may be subject to antidumping duties or countervailing duties.
